Cognitive Defusion

'Taking the Thought to Court'

You challenge an intrusive thought by acting as a defence attorney, prosecutor and a judge.

How to:

  1. Defending the intrusive/negative thought - relying on facts only.
  2. Present evidence against the negative thought.
  3. Review the evidence & deliver a verdict n the form of a rational thought.

Example:

  • The negative thought - my partner hates me.
  • Defence argument - we often argue about minor things.
  • Against argument - we always find a way to resolve the problem.
  • The verdict - arguments are sometimes upsetting,  but overall this remained is healthy and we're both loved. There is no evidence that my partner hates me.
